Micro business on the 8% income tax: your forms

A sari-sari store, online seller or freelancer who chose the 8% income tax rate, with no employees.

Forms in this pack: Register with BIR and choose the 8% rate; Quarterly income tax; Annual income tax return; Update or close your registration; Pay a BIR penalty or other payment.

Register with BIR and choose the 8% rate: Once, when you start: gets your TIN and records your choice of the 8% rate.

Quarterly income tax: Three times a year you report your sales; on the 8% rate this is where the tax is paid.

Annual income tax return: Once a year you report the whole year's sales and settle the balance.

Update or close your registration: When you move, change your business, or stop.

Pay a BIR penalty or other payment: If you filed late or BIR asks you to pay something not covered by a return.

Renew your mayor's permit: business tax is due within the first 20 days of January (your city may extend it).

The PHP 500 annual registration fee (0605 each January) was removed in 2024. Older checklists still list it.

Not for: A business with employees (see Small office), a BMBE-registered business (BMBE cannot use the 8% rate), or gross sales above PHP 3 million.

Not affiliated with BIR, SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG or any government agency.
